Big Tex Storage was founded in 2005 with the goal of developing and managing high-quality self storage facilities in Houston. Currently, we operate two storage locations: we opened our Woodlands storage location in 2013 and our River Oaks location in 2015. Our portfolio consists of more than 1,000 climate controlled storage units in Houston and over 150,000 square feet of Houston self storage space. We look forward to the debut of our Montrose facility in 2016, which will make another 100,000 square feet of storage space available to the people of Houston.

Our Strategy

Big Tex Storage is a small privately held partnership focused on class-A self storage development and operations. Our principal has led the development of 400,000 square feet of self storage and retail assets, currently focusing on core locations for Big Tex Storage in Houston and Dallas. By developing a framework of end-to-end program management activities, our development team leads all aspects of storage development and operations for Big Tex Storage including site selection, financial modeling, equity- and debt-raise, construction planning, start-up operations, property management, P&L optimization, revenue management and asset disposition.

Recently, our principal has developed a new strategy for Big Tex Storage: focused development of multistory core class-A storage assets in markets where the real estate is considered irreplaceable assets. This strategy started with the opening of the River Oaks location of Big Tex Storage in December 2014, and continues with the development of a Montrose location on busy Richmond Avenue in Houston, a Garden Oaks/Heights locations along Ella Boulevard and a Downtown Dallas site of Big Tex Storage in 2016-2017.
